The Penrith Business Improvement District is to support Penrith on a Plate again this year. The event, held on 16 July 2016, combines a food festival with a family fun day and will showcase local food producers. It is expected to draw thousands of people to the town.
Announcing their £1500 grant, Justin Wales spokesperson for the BID, said “the management board are delighted to work with the Penrith Partnership to support Penrith on a Plate. One of the things we want to do is to raise the profile of the town and draw people into the town centre. Events like this are a great way of doing so. We hope that once people have visited the town, they’ll come back for more visits in the future.”
Richard Utting from the Penrith Partnership who are co-ordinating the event welcomed the grant saying, “Support from the BID means we’ll be able to make this year’s event the best yet. Last year around seven thousand people came along and we hope to see even more in 2016.”
