Eden Arts, the organisers of the Winter Droving which takes place in Penrith on Sat 14th November in Penrith town centre, have announced that it will include a new event . A big indoor gig in the evening will take place in Penrith Leisure Centre with music and dancing to entertain the masked masses. The line up includes hugely popular bands, The Baghdaddies, The Electric Swing Circus and Holy Moly and the Crackers.
After the Winter Droving procession had reached its destination and the music and mayhem in Penrith town centre slowly fades The Masqued Mash Up After Party gives everyone the opportunity to continue the party.
Winter Droving’s Artistic Director, Adrian Lochhead said “We have listened to feedback and we have responded! With the Winter Droving now so massive during the day with all of its family entertainment, street fun and food market there have been lots of requests for us to have an after party for those slightly more grown-up! So, don your mask, open your ears and get ready to dance…”
All three bands have spent the summer playing the stages of festivals around the UK and have been chosen for their up-beat party music which will get everyone dancing. The Baghdaddies’ music is world music with strong Balkan tendencies alongside Caribbean grooves, Middle Eastern rhythms and even some Geordie [native Newcastle] touches, all awash with influences such as ska, jazz, punk and metal, delivered with theatre and exuberance. Uplifting and infectiously danceable, full of blistering brass, rousing five part vocal harmonies and a rhythm section that you can’t keep still too.
Holy Moly & The Crackers are a seven-piece ‘gypsy folk n’ roll’ band from Newcastle. They deliver their punky, fiddle flying, Cajun dancing, raucous hoe down with a huge burst of energy.
The Electric Swing Circus is a live 6-piece fusion of saucy 20's swing and stomping electro beats. With an explosive sound that reverberates back through time, the ESC hotfoot their way through everything from breakbeat to jungle, and house through to dubstep, all with their own unique style of swing. Ladies and Gentlemen, hold onto your hats. The circus is coming to town!
“altogether it adds up to what should be Penrith’s best party in years if not ever!” said Adrian, “tickets are on sale now, make sure that you don’t miss out”.
Tickets are £15.00 and all profits will go towards next year’s Winter Droving. Tickets for The Masqued Mash Up After Party at Penrith Leisure Centre on 14th Nov 2015 are available from Penrith Leisure Centre, 01768 863450 and Eden Arts base – Penrith Old Fire Station and online www.winterdroving.uk/afterparty.
