The Winter Droving 2026 - A Celebration 15 Years in the Making

The Winter Droving returns to Penrith on Saturday 24 October 2026, marking fifteen years of magic, masquerade and fire - a milestone celebration of rural life, community and the turning of the seasons.

As dusk falls, the town will blaze into life with the iconic torchlight procession - a breathtaking parade of lanterns, masks and music winding through Penrith's ancient streets. By day, the town transforms into a living carnival: world-class street performers, musicians and mystics will fill every corner, from the bustling market squares to the newly expanded stretch along Middlegate.

Expect the beloved traditions that have made the Droving legendary - the Fancy Dress for Dogs, the riotous Drovers' Cup, the unmistakable Disco Tractor - alongside an even richer feast of experiences for 2026. The market grows grander still, with an expanded Art Market showcasing the finest regional artists and makers alongside delectable street food and local produce.

New for this year, the Young Drovers area offers a dedicated space packed with performances and activities for the next generation of revellers.

And returning by popular demand: Absolutely Barking - a constellation of carnival booths filled with mystical and magical shows to enchant and astound you throughout the day.
